Police responded to the school Wednesday after three students notified administrators of the post from the night before that had concerned them, said Brookfield Police Capt. Peter Frengs.
Administrators immediately brought the student to the school office and called the police, Frengs said.
The student’s parents were also notified and came to the school.
The post depicted what investigators said was “an airsoft facsimile rifle modeled after an AK-15-style rifle with two airsoft magazines of four different rounds of ammunition," police said in a statement.
“There was a text message on the post that was threatening in nature, relating to the school day on Wednesday. No weapons were found at the school,” Frengs said in the statement.
Police confiscated all of the items that are now in possession of the department as part of the investigation, he added.
A junior at the school, the student, was charged with felony threatening and referred to Juvenile Court.
Brookfield police said that out of an abundance of caution they plan to have extra security at the school Thursday.
